Obituary of Nicholas Homick
Nicholas Homick Jr., 70, of Scott Township, died Tuesday afternoon after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore.
He and his wife, formerly Sharon Russin, would have been married for 43 years this July.
Born in Peckville, he was the son of the late Nicholas Oscar and Rose Homick.
He was a graduate of Blakely High School. Nick earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Temple University and a Master's Degree from the University of Scranton. He was employed at ______________School District for many years prior to his retirement.
He was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed helping others. He was involved in many painting and yard projects after he retired. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Also surviving are a son Nicholas Homick and wife Courtney, Peckville, a daughter Heather Flanagan and husband Mark, Macungie; two grandchildren, Natalie and Brayden Homick; a brother David Homick, Scranton; a sister in law, Diane Puhalla and husband Peter, Dickson City, a brother in law, Kevin Russin and wife Ann Marie, Moscow; and a mother in law, Irene Russin, Clarks Summit, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father in law Leo Russin.
The funeral will be on Monday with mass at 9:30am at St. John Vianney Church, Montdale. Interment will follow at Valley View Memorial Park, Scott Township. Friends may call on Sunday from 3 – 6pm at the James M. Margotta Funeral Home, 1019 Main St. Peckville.
