Obituary of Diane M. Mellow

Diane M. Mellow June 11, 2022 Diane M. Mellow, 77, of Peckville, died Saturday morning, with her daughter by her side at Mid Valley Health Care Center, Peckville. Born in Peckville, she was the daughter of the late Gerald and Lillian Turbessi Pullman. Diane was a graduate of Blakely High School, class of 1962, and Lackawanna Junior College. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Peckville. Diane was a dedicated, generous and hardworking woman who spent many years as a volunteer for several organizations and loved working with people. She was a fierce advocate and exceptional fundraiser for the community; specifically regarding women’s rights and concerns. Notable achievements include the Mid Valley Hospital Auxiliary, honorary chairperson of the March of Dimes, Board of Directors secretary for the Hemodialysis Patient Association, president of the Friends of Lourdesmont, chairman of the American Heart Association Drive, president of the Peckville Business & Professional Women’s (BPW) Club, president of the Women’s Resource Center, Lackawanna College Board of Directors, and founder of the Lackawanna College Alumni Association. In addition, she was chosen as the Blakely BPW’s “Woman of the Year'' and as the Scranton Times “Northeast Woman.” Throughout all of her successes and accolades, she always remained true to her roots and never forgot where she came from. She found joy in helping others and gave all that she could to those around her. Diane was proud to be a lifelong resident of “Main Street Peckville” and of her strong Calabrese heritage, but her proudest fulfillment was wearing the title of “Nonnie.” She believed that your greatest legacy in life is the impact you make on your family and that one’s greatest accomplishments are the values and unconditional love you instill in them. Her most cherished treasures were her children and her grandchildren, especially the apple of her eye, “her Hali.” Diane was a loving and selfless mother, grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her. The family would like to express a special thank you to her close friends and caretakers for their continued support and the Mid Valley Health Care Center, Peckville, for the outstanding care they provided during this difficult time. She is survived by her daughter, Tressa Bargella and husband, Todd, Eynon; her grandchildren, Hali Mellow-Bargella, Eynon, and boyfriend, Jonathan Mengoni; Brody and Addley Bargella, Eynon. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Erminio and Fausta Turbessi; her brother, John “Johnny” Pullman; and the true light of her life, daughter, Melissa Marie Mellow. The funeral will be Friday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Peckville. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family at St. John’s Cemetery, Jessup. Friends are asked to go directly to church Friday. Arrangements are under the care and direction of James M.
