Obituary of William McCue

William "Bill" McCue, 74 of Olyphant passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Thursday at Geisinger, CMC. His loving wife of 50 years is the former Mary Gibbons McCue. Bill loved Mary with all his heart and often referred to her as “My Bride.” Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Leo and Elizabeth Kohler McCue. Bill was a graduate of West Scranton High School and received an Associate Degree in Labor Relations from Penn State University. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Holy Cross Parish. Bill served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force for over 7 years during the Vietnam War. He was employed by the US Postal Service for over 35 years and retired as a Postal Supervisor. He resided in Olyphant for over 50 years. Surviving are two sons, Mark McCue, West Chester, PA and Colin McCue and wife Amy, and their children Cael and Koen McCue, Inverness, IL. Also survived by nephew, Kevin Gibbons, Las Vegas, NV and niece Lisa Kearney Gibbons wife of his late nephew Brian Gibbons. Additional deceased family members that were dear to Bill include, his in-laws Mary and Frank Gibbons, Frank Gibbons (brother in-law), and Rosemarie Gibbons (sister in-law). While he was an avid outdoorsman and loved tinkering around in his Man Cave, Bill lived for his family and friends. His sons and grandsons were the greatest joys of his life. He was most proud to be their “Dad” and “Gramps.” Although he never had daughters Bill loved Amy and Lisa as his own. The funeral will be held Wednesday with mass at 10 AM at St. Patrick's church in Olyphant, PA (masks are required). Interment will be held at Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton, PA after the mass. Friends may call to pay their respects at the church beginning at 9 AM. Arrangements are under the care of the Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home, 511 Church St. Jessup.
