Obituary of Elizabeth DePietro

Elizabeth DePietro, 95 of Olyphant passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Dec. 31st at Allied Hospice. She was the widow of Anthony DePietro who died in 1988. The couple was married for 40 years at the time of his death. Born in Guardia Lombardi, Italy, daughter of the late Alessandro and Pasqualina DiPaola, she came to this country in 1948. She resided with her husband in Pennsylvania, before moving to Corning, NY, where she worked as an inspector at the Corning Glass Company for 30 years. She is survived by a son Anthony and wife Paula, with whom she resided, a grandson Tre and wife Roslyn and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Luisa, Philomena, and a brother Rafael. She was a kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with family and loved to cook for them. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Allied Hospice for their compassionate care during her final days. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. The funeral will be held Thursday with mass at 9:30 at St. Patrick's Church, Olyphant. Entombment Glennwood mausoleum, Clarks Summit. Friends may call 30 minutes before time of service at the church. Arrangements are under the care of the Margotta Funeral Home.
