Obituary of Alfonso P. Santarelli

Alfonso P. Santarelli, 90 of Jessup, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, surrounded by his family at Allied Hospice. He and his wife the former Rose Mary Anderson celebrated 71 years of marriage on November 2nd. Born and raised in Jessup, he was the son of the late Anthony and Josephine Vispi Santarelli. He was a graduate of Jessup High School, Class of 1949. He owned a 7-Up franchise for many years and later retired as a salesman for Crystal Bottling Company. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, the Buckhorn Rod and Gun Club, a two term Jessup Councilman, Borough Chairman, member of Club 100, and a former member of the Jessup Carbino Club. The patriarch of his family, he was affectionately known as Nonno. He was an avid hunter in his younger years, loved playing cards, and going to the casino. He was always there in trying times as well as good times. His family was always first. He never missed any event, sporting or otherwise, that his grandchildren were a part of. Also surviving are three sons, Gregory and wife Norina, Jessup; Allan and wife Luanne, Mt. Carmel; Randy and wife Janice, Jessup; a sister, Theresa Kane and husband Patrick, Jessup; grandchildren, Gregory and wife Lori, Matthew and Vanessa; Alexis and husband Jeremy, Maura, and Nate; great grandchildren, Aubrey, Olivia, Owen and Hannah; and a nephew, Patrick Kane, Jr. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Kara Santarelli. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Gregory Sayegh for taking exceptional care of Al in his final months and Family Pharmacy in Jessup for always going above and beyond to accommodate Al and his wife. The family would also like to thank the staff at Geisinger Community Medical Center and Allied Hospice. The funeral will be held Saturday from the Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home, 511 Church St. Jessup, with mass at 11:30 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Interment St. John's cemetery, Jessup. Friends may call Friday from 5 to 7 at the funeral Home.
