Obituary of Joseph J. Tomasaitis

Joseph J. Tomasaitis, 87, of Jessup, died on Wednesday at Allied Hospice Skilled Nursing Facility, Scranton, after a brief illness. His wife was the former Ann Kohanski Tomasaitis, who passed away in 2005. The couple was married for 42 years. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late John and Marcella Lubinas Tomasaitis. Joe graduated from Scranton Technical High School and Johnson School of Carpentry. He was employed in Housekeeping at Moses Taylor Hospital prior to retirement. He also served in the US Airforce during the Korean War. He was a kind and loving husband, father, brother who will be dearly missed. Joe enjoyed yard work and gardening. He was an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox Fan. Surviving is his son, John Tomasaitis, Jessup and nieces, Jackie Krupka, Scranton, Mary Lou Passeri and husband Robert, Laflin, Barbara Kaminski and husband Edward, Haymarket, VA; their children, Julia Kurlla and husband Rhett,Broad Run VA, and Louis Kaminski and wife Chelsea, Brooklyn, NY, great niece, Jennifer Passeri, Laflin, a niece Janet Varzaly and husband Paul, Phila., their children Jessica Dempsey and husband Ryan, Phila. and Lindsay Kordishti and husband Nik, Phila., nephews Greg Sereditch, Scranton and Edward Sereditch, Olyphant. He was preceded in death by a brother, John, and sisters, Susan Grenevicki, Josephine Bio, Ann Gilbert, and Mary Judd. The funeral will be Tuesday with mass of Christian burial at 10:30 am at Queen of Angels Parish, Jessup. Interment will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Jessup. There will be calling hours from 9:30am until the time of mass at the church. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home.
