THOMAS PHILIP REESE
JANUARY 13, 1951 – JUNE 20, 2021
Thomas P. “Tommy” Reese, 70, of Peckville died unexpectedly at home on Sunday, June 20, 2021. He and his loving wife, Susan Spalnick Reese, just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on February 28th.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of Rose “Rosie” Sgobba Reese and the late Philip “Jiggsy” Reese. He was a proud graduate of West Scranton High School, Keystone College, Bloomsburg University, and received his masters degree from Marywood University. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Peckville. He was a loving, devoted husband that never left his wife’s side. He was an amazing son, brother, uncle, dog dad, cousin, nephew, and friend.
Tommy started his working career with his best buddy/twin brother Donny, serving ice cream at Burshell Dairy. He then went on to work at Lockheed Martin, Archbald, as a Subcontractor/Purchasing Manager, for forty years and retired in 2010.
He was an avid Penn State Nittany Lion fan and he made sure everyone around him knew it. If you represented any other college football team, he wanted a full explanation as to why. He enjoyed his early wake ups to every home game - arriving five hours before start time just to “find parking”. He also enjoyed his late-night casino trips with his mother & brother. He always made sure his vehicles were in tip top shape, and lastly, he simply just loved being at home with his wife Susie. Those are just a few, but he will leave many wonderful memories behind.
In addition to his loving wife Susan, Tommy is survived by his mother Rose Reese, 93, Scranton; his sister Lynn Reese Sparacino, Scranton; his sister-in-law Diane Chelik and husband Robert, Archbald; their daughters Angel Chelik and husband Joe Nafziger, San Diego; and Mandy Garcia and husband Erik, their children Alma & Cole, Nashville; his brother-in-law Michael Spalnick and wife Joanne, and their son Steven, Jermyn; his sister-in-law Carol Toman Reese, Scranton; his niece, Carrie Durkin and husband Brian, Clarks Summit; his nephew, Robert Sparacino and wife Joanne, Scranton; his niece, Jackie Sparacino, Scranton; his great nephews Noah & Chase Durkin, Clarks Summit; his cousin Martin “Mino” Greco, New Jersey; and many other cousins, aunts, uncles, neighbors, and friends; lastly, his beloved dog Bear.
He is preceded in death by his father and his identical twin brother (who just recently passed in October of 2020).
A mass of Christian burial will be held at Sacred Heart Parish, Peckville, Thursday morning at 10:00am. Friends and family may call Thursday 9:00a.m. - 10:00a.m. Arrangments are under the care and direction of James M. Margotta Funeral Home, Peckville.
Memorial Contributions may be made in Tommy’s name to Lackawanna County Humane Society, Griffin Pond Animal Shelter; Waverly, PA.
