Obituary of Michael Shep Shefchick
Michael "Shep" Shefchick, of Jessup, entered peacefully into the Kingdom of God Saturday, May 29th, 2021.
His wife and caregiver of 75 years is the former Madelyn Walley Shefchick.
Michael was born in Jessup, on October 21, 1925. He was the son of the late John and Anna Shefchick.
He attended Jessup schools and at the age of 17 enlisted in the U. S. Army from 1943 thru 1946. Michael
was a WW II Veteran and fought bravely in the Battle of the Bulge. Following his Honorable Discharge from the armed services he began employment
with Moffit Coal Co. His strong determination to provide for his family motivated him to continue mining, never questioning the dangers involved.
Later in years he began employment with Casket Shells, Inc. where he quickly worked his way to Supervisor and then many years later retirement.
Michael was born with the expertise and skill of carpentry without any need of training. He was called upon by many to renovate and help with any project,
never accepting anything in return.
Our family was so proud as he would tell stories of his time fighting for our country in WW II.
Along with the love of his life, his lovely wife, Madge, he is also survived by daughters, Ann Marie Kreidler, Sandra Sweeder and husband John, Theresa Black and husband Gene, grandchildren, John Michael, Michelle and Laura and great grandchildren, Brittany, Kelsey, Tyler, Ethan, Abbey and Cassidy.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Andrew, John, Joseph, George, Stephen and sisters, Helen Walley and Eleanor Anderson, granddaughters, Cynthia and Sharon, great granddaughter Destiny and son in law Robert Kreidler.
We would like to express our appreciation and gratitude to the staff at Linwood Rehab, caregivers aides, Father John and Hospice of the Sacred Heart
for their compassion and care during this difficult time. Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Margotta Funeral Home and are private at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church, 313 First Avenue, Jessup, PA 18434
