Maureen Spatt

Obituary of Maureen Spatt

Maureen Spatt,63 of Olyphant passed away peacefully Wednesday at home. She was the wife of Scott Spatt. The couple was married for 33 years After a 20 plus year courageous fight against cancer, Maureen finally is at peace. Maureen(Mo) is the strongest person I ever knew and loved. She never complained or said, “Why me?” when it came to this terrible disease. She would always have a smile on her face. Anyone who knew Mo, knew how she loved children, but none more than her pride and joy Malissa. She fought cancer with Malissa’s milestones in mind. These milestones kept Maureen going for years. She enjoyed seeing Malissa graduate high school, then college and finally on to become a nurse. Mo was so proud of her that day. Mo was wonderful with all children and our friends will attest how their kids loved her and how she loved them. Mo also loved animals; she would always have bird feeders and would take care of stray animals that would wander onto our property. She even walked a stray chicken back to its coop a ¼ mile away. Of course I can’t leave out how she loved her best bud Wilson who watched over her and was at her side until the end. Mo also loved working with special needs children and did that at the NEIU for many years. Maureen was preceded in death by her parents Lee and Ann Baillargeon, her grandparents and aunts and uncle and a sister Doreen. Maureen is survived by her husband Scott Spatt, daughter Malissa Spatt, niece Jennifer Rubin and her husband Alex and their 3 children, her mother and father-in-law Jeanne Spatt and Fred Spatt, sister and brother-in-law Susan and Robert Logomasini, cousins and nephew and Wilson.
