Obituary of Isadora Avellino

Isadora “Cookie” Avellino, 82, of Jessup, died Wednesday morning at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. Her husband, Andrew Avellino, died in November of 2002. The couple was married for 44 years. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Dominick and Augusta Giombetti Perini. Cookie was a graduate of Jessup High School and was employed as a Beautician, a Seamstress in the Garment Industry, Montdale Country Club and retired from the Dietary Department at Elmcroft. She was a loving wife, mother, grand and great grandmother, sister and friend who will be dearly missed. She enjoyed to gamble, going to local casinos and always had lottery tickets. Cookie was a kind hearted woman who would help anyone. She loved her dog and companion, Peanut. The family would like to thank Hospice of the Sacred Heart and especially Kayla Bullock for their kind and compassionate care. Surviving are her children; Arthur Avellino and wife Giedra, FL, Lisa Munley, Jessup, and Mark Avellino and wife Dawn, Jessup; her grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephanie, Marc, Erica, Lindsey, Isabella, and Andrew; ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Madeline McKenna, and two nieces, Marylou O’Malley and Dora McKenna. The funeral will be Tuesday with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at Sacred Heart Parish, Peckville. Interment will follow at Valley View Memorial Park, Scott Twp. There will be a private viewing.
