Obituary of Lenore R. Sweeney

Lenore R. Sweeney of Danville, formerly from Jessup, passed away Friday, February 26th after a lengthy illness at the age of 78. Born in Peckville, she was the daughter of the late Moses and Dina Paoletti Galli. She was a graduate of Jessup High School and beauty school. Lenore married Dennis Sweeney Sr. in 1964 and shared 43 happy years of marriage until his death in 2007. She was employed at Suncom Industries as a program and facilities director for many years. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Danville and a former member of St. Mary's Assumption Church in Jessup. Lenore was very active in her children's school and volunteered her time and talents for many functions and events. She was a phenomenal cook, a wonderful friend to many, and a dedicated caregiver to her family. Many will remember her for her caring, compassionate ways. She epitomized the word "giving" and lived by the golden rule. Lenore loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, whom she adored. Lenore is survived by two daughters Colleen (Tony) Fritz and Lesley (Mike) Yeich, and a son Dennis Jr. (Eileen); grandchildren Stephanie (Chris) Hirneisen; Tara (Henry) Avery; Lesley Fritz and fiancé Tom Heenan; Kathleen, Megan, and Dennis John Sweeney; Wesley Yeich and fiancé Carly Heimbach; Bradley and Annalise Yeich. Great-grandchildren; Emersyn and Gianna Hirneisen, and Ellie and Macie Yeich. A brother-in-law, Ernie Mengoni Sr., Jessup. Several very close nieces and nephews, whom she loved like her own children. She was preceded in death by her sister, Elaine Mengoni. A private viewing will be held Tuesday at the Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home with public mass at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Peckville. Anyone attending the mass must wear masks and follow all social distancing guidelines. Internment will be private. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Suncom Industries, PO Box 46, Northumberland, PA 17857.
