Gail Kunda

Obituary of Gail Kunda

Gail Kunda, 64, Moscow, peacefully entered into eternal rest on January 21, 2021 surrounded by her family at Allied Hospice. She was the wife of Bill Kunda. They were married for 38 years. She was the daughter of the late Rinaldo and Atea (Ruspi) Garofoli. She was a graduate of Valley View High School and attended the University of Scranton. Gail was employed by Harper Collins Publishers for 38 years and experienced a rewarding career in her time with them. She began working at Harper as a customer service representative and through the years, she transitioned and elevated to several manager and supervisor positions and upon her retirement in 2012 was the Director of Customer Service. Prior to and following her retirement, she also served as primary caregiver to her parents as they required more attentive care in their late age. She often commented on how much caring for them meant to her. Gail enjoyed life to the fullest. She often said she could have written her own book given her many life experiences. Her passions included cooking/baking, traveling, and reading. A gourmet cook at heart, she loved to entertain her family and friends however, she most enjoyed spending time in her kitchen cooking for her husband Bill, family and any special occasion she was called upon to help bake for; a gift she no doubt inherited from her mother. Through the years she also hosted some of the most wonderful cookie swaps during the Christmas holiday seasons. Many family, friends and co-workers attended these delicious gala events. A truly spiritual woman, graced by God, she dedicated her life to her husband and her family. She will be sadly missed by her husband Bill as they were truly soulmates in life who spent all of their time together throughout their loving marriage. She will always be remembered in life for her compassionate heart, deep sense of faith, love for her family, her terrific sense of humor and her wonderful Italian foods. She truly was a kind and caring wife, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who always made time for family and friends and especially those in need. The family wishes to thank Allied Hospice of Scranton and their incredible staff for the extraordinary care extended to Gail in her final respite time, Dr. Randall Brundage and staff for all of their care and compassion extended to her while in their care. They also wish to thank the Hematology & Oncology Associates, physicians and staff and also Northeast Radiation Oncology Center during her time spent in the care of her treatments.
