Joseph Tracewski

Obituary of Joseph N. Tracewski

Joseph N. Tracewski of Wilkes-Barre, PA died on January 13, 2021 at home. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Laurie Gipson Tracewski (July 22, 2016). He was born in Peckville, PA, on June 9, 1962, son of the late Henry J. Tracewski Sr. and Irene Shekitka Tracewski. Joe was a graduate of Valley View High School Class of 1980. He was a member of Heat & Frost Insulators Local 38, retiring in 2014. His jobs with the union sent him many places, one being Bloomington, IL, where he met Laurie, the love of his life. They were married on December 7, 1985, (first day of deer), but he always said he got his doe that day. They had 3 children, Brandon, Kimberly, and Heather, whom he loved with all his heart and soul. He was extremely proud of all their accomplishments: Brandon becoming an insulator with Local 38, Kimberly becoming an English teacher in Rio de Janerio, and Heather becoming a hospital social worker. As a child in California, Joe learned to ride go karts and mini bikes. Later in life, it brought him joy to go camping with his kids and race dirt bikes up at Hurricane Hills. He was the most content in the outdoors, and loved fishing, hunting, camping, and hiking in the NY and PA mountains. He was proud to have taken a hiking trip with Brandon on the Appalachian Trail. Joe could pitch a tent in Dale & TT's backyard or one by the creek at Laurie D's or anywhere and was one happy camper. A man of many talents like his father, Tracy, he could rebuild a car or fix anything. He was a very talented carpenter and all round handyman who enjoyed working with Bob Hogan, who was like his brother. They remodeled many buildings and he was very proud of the boat house at Harvey's Lake that they fixed. Lately, Bob’s grandson ‘Tanner’ became Joe’s sidekick. From learning how to fix and ride quads, to laying flooring, he was learning from the best. He was preceded in death by his brothers Henry Jr., Robert "Bubba" Tracewski, sister-in-law Lisa Gipson, father-in-law William Elvin and many uncles, aunts and cousins. Surviving are his son Brandon Tracewski (Clifford Twp, PA), daughters Kimberly Tracewski (Rio de Janerio, Brazil) and Heather Sears (Chicago, IL), Sister Janice and husband Michael "Firp" Edmunds (Clifford Twp.), Uncles Richard Tracewski and wife Deloras and Joseph Shekitka and wife Arlene. Nieces Kolia Perez, husband Adam, and daughter Rio, Rachel Tracewski Yonan and daughter Dorothy, and Jessica Tracewski, Sister-in-laws Liz Harris and Lisa Tracewski, Mother-in-law Karla Jeanne Gipson, and brother and sister-in-laws in Bloomington, IL, and many cousins and friends. We also extend thanks for the love and support to his extended family Bob and Barb Hogan, and to his other sisters Paige and Heather, and other brother Brent. You are our family. We will all miss him dearly. “When we lose someone we love we must learn not to live without them, but to live with the love they left behind.” Interment will be at St. John’s Cemetery, Jessup, along with his mother, brother, and wife at a later date.
