Obituary of Stanley Burdyn

Stanley "Stash" Burdyn, 82 of Jessup passed away Thursday at his home after a prolonged illness. His wife of 42 years was the former Mary Ann Hafner Burdyn, who died November, 14 2005. Born in Dickson City, he was the son of the late Stanley and Bridget Warzecha Burdyn. He attended Dickson schools and graduated from Johnson School. Stanley then enlisted in the US Navy and took great pride in serving on the USS Tidewater. After serving his country, he received an Associate degree in Engineering from Penn State University and a degree in Business Management from the University of Scranton. Stanley began his employment as a machinist at Chrysler Corporation and then was a draftsman at Acker Drill. His incredible work ethic, organizational skills and leadership ability led him to his eventual employment at RCA working in plant engineering and management. Stanley’s grandchildren were his complete pride and joy. His devotion to them over the years will forever be cherished in their hearts! Stash played the accordion, spoke Polish, enjoyed golf over the years, coached his son’s teams and officiated high school baseball. Stanley also enjoyed playing cards and tending to his garden. He was a charter member and past president of the Jessup Carbino Club. He is survived by two sons, Stanley S. and wife Sheri, Jessup, and David and wife Amy, Manheim, grandchildren, Caylie, Ashley, Abigail, Alex and Rebecca, a brother, Richard Anthony, Throop and a sister Elaine Theresa Kurilla, Madisonville, and nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held Friday with mass at 11Am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Peckville, Interment, St. John's cemetery, Jessup. Anyone attending the mass is asked to follow all CDC guidelines concerning masks and social distancing. Arrangements are under the care of the Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home,Jessup, PA.
