Obituary of Raymond H. Alunni

Raymond H. Alunni, 81, of Jessup, passed away Monday after an illness at Geisinger CMC, surrounded by his family. His wife of 59 years is Louise Baldoni Alunni. Born and raised in Jessup, he was the son of the late Umberto and Lucia Mancini Alunni. He was a graduate of Jessup High School and a member of the US Army Reserves from 1959 to 1965. He belonged to St. Mary’s Assumption Church, Queen of Angels Parish, Jessup. He was co-owner of Alunni’s Market in Jessup for over 50 years. He was a member of Jessup Hose Company #1 and the Boards of Directors of Affiliated Foods and Jessup Bank for a number of years. He was very active in the Bread Basket of NEPA, Jessup Branch. Ray was an exceptional father and devoted Nono, who loved spending time with his granddaughters most of all. He loved hunting with his son at Hilltop Sports Club, where he was President. He dedicated most of his time to helping at Queen of Angels Parish. Whatever was needed in the church, Ray was always there. Ray will always be remembered for his true passion–making sausage with his family every Saturday morning. Also surviving are a son Raymond Alunni and wife Catherine, Jefferson Township; two granddaughters, Brianna and Jessica Alunni, Philadelphia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry "Edward" Alunni, KIA during WW II and Roland "Londi" Alunni and two sisters, Mary Fagnani and Anna Mahalidge. The funeral will be held Saturday with mass at 11 AM at St. Michael’s Church, Jessup. Interment, St. John’s Cemetery, Jessup. Friends may call from 9 to 11 Saturday morning at the church. All CDC Guidelines will be followed with social distancing in effect and masks required. All visitors are asked to have patience when attending the viewing because only a certain amount of people will be allowed in church at a time.
