Obituary of Andrew Fetcho
Andrew J. Fetcho, 76 of Eynon, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday morning, at home, after an illness. His wife is the former Jean Homentosky. The couple celebrated 48 years of marriage on July 18, 2018.
Born in Jessup, he was the son of the late Thomas and Justine Povanda Fetcho. He was a graduate of St. Michael's Parochial School, Jessup High School, Class of 1960 and later returned to school at age 57 earning a degree from
Lackawanna College. He served on active duty with hte Pennsylvania National Guard, 109 Infantry for several years. Andy was employed at Haddon Craftsman Scranton, for 32 years until it's closing After receiving his degree, he worked
as an instructional assistant in Special Education for the Old Forge School District with assignments in both Valley View and Riverside High Schools.
He was a lifelong member of St. Michael's Church, Queen of Angels Parishin Jessup, where he served on the St. Michael's Cemetery Committee. He was also a member of the Jessup Carbino Club.
Andy was proud of his many accomplishments in the local sports scene. He excelled as a shortstop in baseball where he helped the Jessup semi-pro team to the Lackawanna League championship in 1959 and was a ten time All-Star
in the Scranton Association Baseball League and the Mid Valley and Schautz Softball Leagues where he received the Joseph Pettinato Memorial Award for outstanding play and sportsmanshhip. He was a four year player on the
Jessup Greenwave Football Team and played basketball in the Scranton Association and Industrial Leagues. He was one of the founders of the Jessup Teener League and coached Little League baseball for the Carbino Club and
served as biddy and Fifth Grade basketball coach at St. Michael's School, Jessup.
He was a loving and devoted husband, son, father, brother, uncle and friend to everyone and will be especially missed by his beloved dog, Cotton. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox Fan, New York Giants and the Valley View
The family would like to thank Dr. Mario Sebastianelli, Dr. Lakshmi Mizin, Dr. Samir Pancholy and the staff of Allied Rehab Hospital and Allied Services Home Hospice for their wonderful care.
Also surviving are his son, Andrew T. Fetcho, Jr., Eynon, his mother in law, Marie Homentosky, Eynon, sisters in law, Louise Fetcho, Jessup, Marie Batzel, Roaring Brook Twp., brothers in law, Joseph Homentosky and wife Nadine,
Jessup and Edward Homentosky and wife, Lori, Peckville, many nieces and nephews, Godchildren, and cousins, He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Fetcho on December 25, 2018, his father in law, Joseph Homentosky,
Sr. and a nephew Jake Batzel. The funeral will be Wednesday from the Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home, 511 Church St. Jessup, with mass at 10 AM in St. Michael's Church, Queen of Angels Parish, First Avenue, Jessup.Interment ,
