Obituary of Robert E. Thompson

Robert E. Thompson, 82, of Scranton, died Thursday at Green Ridge Care Center, after an illness. He was married to the former Carolyn Cholish. The couple was married for 54 years.


Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Gerald and Margaret Mitchel Thompson. He was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and was a US Army Veteran stationed in Germany post World War II. He was employed as a paper converter at Eureka Corporation and other local printing companies for many years until his retirement. He was a member of Mary Mother of God Parish in Scranton. Bob was an avid golfer, PGA fan and he loved to fish.


Also surviving are two sons John Thompson and wife Julie, Burnsville, MN and Matt Thompson and wife Denise, Salt Lake City, UT, a daughter, Kristine Holmes and husband Tim, Dunmore, grandchildren, Zac, Bailey, Matthew, Alexia and Allissa Thompson also Sage Maxfield, Emily Holmes, Patrick Holmes and his wife Dana and a great granddaughter, Stella, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald.


The funeral will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will also be private. Arrangements are under the care of the Margotta Funeral Home, Jessup, PA.
