Joan Borick, 76, of Eynon, died Tuesday morning at Regional Hospital.
Born in Jessup, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Alice Hoynack Caines. Joan was a graduate of Jessup High School and retired from the University of Scranton, Maintenance Department. She was a member of Queen of Angels Church, Jessup.
Surviving are a son, Timothy Borick and wife Amy, Peckville and a daughter Jill Durofchalk and husband John, Wernersville, PA; her grandchildren, Ethan Borick, Amanda, Jennifer, and Patrick Durofchalk; her nieces, Maria Portanova and Angela Vangarelli. She was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Edward, and Joseph Caines.
Joan was a wonderful mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend who will be dearly missed. Anyone that ever met her got an immediate sense of how kind and loving she was. She was the type of woman that would literally give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. She enjoyed baking, cooking, and traveling. She loved to attend Bingo and Broadway Shows. As a mother, Joan instilled a great gift to her children. She gave her children the belief that anything was possible if you worked hard and tried your best. She gave her family so much love and support over the years. We can only hope that we made her proud. We take solace in knowing that she will be in a better place and reunited with loved ones.
The funeral will be on Friday with mass of Christian burial at 10 am at St. Michael’s Church, Jessup. Interment will follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery, Jessup.
