Obituary of Catherine Caines

 

Catherine R. Caines, 90, of Jessup died Wednesday morning at Allied Skilled Nursing Facility in Scranton. Her husband was William L. Caines who passed away in September, 2013. The couple was married for 47 years. 

Born in Jessup, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Botek Opiekun. She was a graduate of St. Michael’s School, Jessup and St. Patrick’s High School, Olyphant. She retired from Lockheed Martin. 

A lifelong Jessup resident, she was a member of Queen of Angels Parish.

Catherine was a kind and loving sister, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed. She enjoyed Casino trips and playing bingo and lottery tickets.. She loved doing crafts including ceramics, quilting and crocheting and was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan.  She and her husband were always helping others, she found the good in everybody and everything with her constant positive attitude. 

Surviving are; two sisters in-law, Joan Borick and Arlene Caines; three nephews, Eugene Biglin, Raymond Biglin, and Timothy Borick; five nieces, Jean Marie Cuthbertson, Jill Durofchalk, Patty Kochanski, Maria Portonova, and Angela Vangarelli; seven grand nephews and five grand nieces, a great grandnephew and a great grandniece.

She was preceded in death by a brother Anthony Opiekunand a sister, Mary D Biglin, a brother in law, Eugene J. Biglin. 

The funeral will be on Saturday with mass at 9:30 am at Queen of Angels Parish, Jessup. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Jessup.
