Obituary of George Toth Sr.
George A. Toth Sr., 89, died Wednesday morning at Lackawanna Health and Rehab Center. His wife was the former Rose DeMarco, who passed away in June of 2001. The couple was married for 66 years.
Born in Jessup, the son of the late John and Mary Ritzco Toth, he attended Jessup schools and was employed at Grove Textile and later was self-employed as a contractor.
George was an avid fisherman, hunter and bowler who enjoyed to polka dance. He played the accordion and loved to announce square dancing. He appreciated sports, especially baseball and football.
The family would like to especially thank the Lackawanna Health and Rehab Center, nurses, doctors and staff.
Surviving are two sons, George Toth Jr. and wife, Bridget; and Charles Toth; three grandchildren, George Toth III, Brittany Toth and Melanie Toth; great-grandchildren, Aiden Taylor Toth and Dominick Smith, James, John, Megan and Madelyn Anglin; a granddaughter, Renee Anglin and husband James.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Clara Pelucacci and husband, Jerry Sr.; a daughter-in-law, Linda Toth; a granddaughter, Melissa Davis; and a grandson, Jerry Pelucacci Jr.
The funeral will be on Saturday with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, Olyphant. Interment will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Jessup.
Friends may call on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home, 511 Church St., Jessup.
