Obituary of Ronald Tomassoni
Ronald J. Tomassoni, 75, of Eynon, died Thursday evening at home after a long, courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.
His wife is the former Carolyn Hudak. The couple would have been married for 50 years this May.
Born in Peckville, he was the son of the late Leo and Adeline Geraci Tomassoni. He was a graduate of Blakely High School, class of 1960, and Lackawanna College. He was employed at Prudential insurance for 30 years and enjoyed an early retirement after receiving numerous awards and incentive trips while travelling with his wife. Ron was a member of the Papa Bear Club and Blakely High School Class reunion committee. He was a member of the U.S. National Guard. He enjoyed daily walks in and around the area, golf, the St. Louis Cardinals, Dallas Cowboys, attending mass on Sunday, Italian cuisine, and most importantly spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and attending all of their events.
The family would like to thank his caregivers over the last few years while Ron remained homebound, his wife, HHCP Maria, Rosie, Tricia and his daily caregiver Jessica.
Also surviving are two sons, Dave and wife Jodi, Archbald and Vincent and wife Joann, Eynon; four grandchildren, Mia, Eva, Nicholas, and Anthony; three sisters, Arlene Shekitka and husband Joseph, Blakely, Delores Pavlick, Peckville, Marian Wasilchak, Peckville; a sister in law Mary Ann Soy, Jessup.
He was preceded in death by three brother in laws, Jerry Pavlick, Hillard Wasilchak, and Joseph Soy.
The funeral will be on Tuesday with mass of Christian burial at 9:30 am at Christ the King Parish, St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Archbald. Interment will follow at St. Francis Cemetery, Eynon. Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 7 pm at the James M. Margotta Funeral Home, 1019 Main St. Peckville.
