Rose Marie Kurilla, 96, of Peckville, entered into eternal rest on Thursday at St. Mary’s Villa, Elmhurst. She was the widow of Andrew G. Kurilla who passed away on March 21, 2001. The couple was married for 44 years. Born in Minooka, she was the daughter of the late Timothy and Bridget Kearney. She attended Minooka Schools. Rose worked as a waitress at various catering businesses in the Mid Valley Area for many years. She enjoyed going for walks and going on the bus to Scranton shopping, eating at Coney Island in Scranton and Dunkin Donuts. Also the occasional trips to the casino. Rose will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Rose had a great love for her family, especially her granddaughter, Michele. The family would like to thank Dr. Anthony Freda and staff, Dr. Robert Kaville and staff at St. Mary’s Villa Elmhurst for their compassionate care for Rose. She is survived by a son Michael Kurilla and wife, Kathy, Archbald, a daughter Karen DeGutis and husband, Denny, Archbald; a granddaughter, Michele Harhut, FL., sisters Bernadette Bracey and Dorothy Murray both of Minooka, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Kay Yancilla and Peggy Murray; brothers Joe, Marty, and Paul Kearney. The funeral will be on Wednesday at 10 am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Peckville. Internment will follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery, Jessup. There will be a 1 hour viewing from 9 to 10 am at the church. Arrangements are under the care and direction of James M. Margotta Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Rd., South Abington Twp. PA 18411, in her memory because of her love of all her dogs in her life.
