Martha Killiany, 96, of Blakely, a resident of the Jewish Home of Eastern PA, passed away Thursday at Allied Hospice Center. She was the widow of John J. Killiany, who died in 1987. The couple had been married for 38 years. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Stella Maellaro Lippolis. She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School , was employed in the local garment industry and worked for many years at Pawnee Pants in Olyphant She was a member of the former Holy Ghost Church in Olyphant. At one time she was also an active member of the Shopa-Davey Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW in Peckville. Martha’s first love was her family, including her Grand dogs: Jersey, Ryley, Cody, Jordie, and Tahoe. She especially enjoyed walking at the park in Peckville with her longtime companion Philip Cappellini, Sr. They made many friends there and at the local breakfast restaurants where they were seen daily. Surviving are two daughters, Joan Stella, Blakely, and Diane Killiany, San Matteo, CA; a son, John Killiany and wife Deborah Chilletti, Binghamton, NY; a granddaughter, Jacqueline Stella, Philadelphia; a sister, Ida Jones, Crofton, MD; and longtime companion, Phil Cappellini and his entire family, whom she loved like her own; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Marie Killiany Devine and brothers, Bart, William and Frank Lippolis, and a sister Mary Lippolis. The funeral will be held Wednesday with mass at 10:30 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Peckville. Interment, Holy Ghost Cemetery, Blakely. Friends and family may call from 9 am to 10 am at the Margotta Funeral Home 1019 Main St. Peckville. All CDC Guidelines will be adhered to and masks and social distancing will be required.
