John DeFazio

John ”Clem" DeFazio, 84 of Blakely died Wednesday at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia after a brief illness. After 46 years of marriage, he leaves his widow, the former Rita Marsili. 

Born in Dickson City he was the son of the late Clem and Anna DeFazio. He was a graduate of Dickson City High School and Johnson School of Technology and a member of the United States Air Force where he served in Panama.

He resided in Blakley for the past 46 years where he was a self-employed building contractor, a very accomplished musician and a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Scranton. He was also a lifetime member and past Commander of the Dickson City Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the Raymond Henry, American Legion, Olyphant.

Surviving are his three sons, John and wife Dorothy, Blakely, Richard and wife Kathy, Waymart, and Mark and wife Robin, Blakely, his daughter Donna McCann and husband Brian, Canedensis. Also surviving are his two brothers, Larry and wife Beverly, Factoryville, and Robert and wife Barbara, Dickson City and his two sisters, Grace Walsh and husband Tony, Coventry, CT, and Ann Marie Luchansky and husband John, Dickson City, two grandsons, John DeFazio III, and Sean DeFazio.

The funeral will be held Monday at 11 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with services by Pastor John Zimmerman, Interment at a later date at St. Francis cemetery, Eynon. Friends may call Monday morning from 9:30 until the time of service, at the church.
