Born in Dickson City, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Mary Malinowski. Marion attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and Dickson City High School and worked at Sacred Heart of Jesus Rectory for 25 years and was a longtime member. She was also a fundamental part of the kitchen at The Wildcat Saloon for many years.

Surviving are two daughters, Linda Zipay and husband Gary, Archbald, and Missy Lesconage, Peckville, a son, Michael Shefchick and longtime companion, Bernadette Cipilewski, Chapin, S.C.; daughter in law Maureen Lewis, Peckville; five grandchildren, Nicole Borusiewicz and husband David, Peckville, Tyler Zipay, Philadelphia, Dominique Lesconage and Ian Reese, both of Peckville, Edward Tavarez, N.J.; great-grandchildren, Luke, Jake and Cody; a brother Al Malinowski, Dickson City.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Tavarez and a son Andrew Shefchick, three sisters Ceil, Jean and Irene, and two brothers Teddy and Johnny.

The family would like to thank her niece and nephew, Chuck Golden, her right hand man and Elaine Santarelli, who was like a sister to her, Dr. Tracey Galardi, her nurses and staff, Allied Skilled Nursing and formerly Spirit of Mercy.

Marion was a very devout catholic who loved to pray, enjoyed her housework, gardening and adored animals. She especially loved her family, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Marion can always be caught sitting on her front porch and was affectionately known as the “matriarch of Marion St.”
