Eleanor F. Lomma-Mayer, 81, of Jessup, died Sunday afternoon at Geisinger Community Medical Center after being stricken ill. Her husband of 46 years, Joseph G. Mayer, died in September of 2009.
Born in Old Forge, daughter of the late Catherine Lomma Volpe, Eleanor was a graduate of Old Forge High School and was employed by Eureka Security Printing Co. in Jessup.
Eleanor was a promoter of peace, love, kindness, unity and joy within her family and throughout the world. She devoted and dedicated her life to her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter, Joanne Mayer-Perri and Kevin Clark, Jessup; granddaughters, Catherine Chrusch and husband, David, Jermyn; Dakota Christie and companion, Richard Chicoski, Jessup; Elizabeth Stoffy, Jessup; a grandson, Anthony Joseph (AJ) Mayer-Perri, Jessup; great-grandchildren, William James and Gavin Joseph Chrusch, Sophia Catherine Chicoski and Lyla June Murphy; Donna Charmack (Godchild) and husband, Robert, Jessup; niece, Mary Jean Hunt; and two nephews, Thomas Volpe and Tony Roginski; countless paternal nieces and nephews she adored; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Miller, whom just turned 90. She loved her extended families: the White, Christie, Ballo, Reed, Nalevanko, Korischar, Nurse and Dietrick families.
The family would like to thank the Wright Center in Jermyn, Bruce Biancarelli and family, Kennith Savitski, Sacred Heart of Hospice, Cooney Medical, Interim Health, Elizabeth from CIL Cares and those who lovingly cared for her.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Angeline Romeo; and a brother-in-law Alfred Romeo.
The funeral be Saturday with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Christ the King Parish, Archbald. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
