Obituary of Gerald Gallo
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed into God’s Kingdom on Monday, August 21, 2017. He is predeceased by his first wife, Lorraine Cucura Gallo, who passed in 2000, and survived by his second wife Sharon Zlotnicki Grasso Gallo. He was born on June 24, 1943 in Scranton, PA and grew up in Fleetville, PA surrounded by 10 older brothers and sisters. He is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Amelia Mason Gallo. He is also predeceased by a brother Joseph and sisters, Rosemary (Jakubas), Lucille (Matalavy), Amelia (Dohanich), Joan (Perry), June (McGerrity), and Frances Gallo. He is survived by brothers John and wife Muriel, Frank, and sister Shirley Kirlin and husband Frank, and also by several nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his son Gerald W. Gallo and wife Nicole, and granddaughters, Talia, Gianna and Madelana Gallo, Lansdale, PA, and his daughter Kimberly Smargiassi and husband Robert, Olyphant, PA. He is also survived by his second wife’s children, Robert Grasso and wife Jill, Lafayette Hill, PA, and Shara (Grasso) Bauman and husband Kurt, Olyphant, PA, and grandchildren Robby, Christopher and Elizabeth Grasso, and Keira and Cole Bauman.
Gerald graduated from Benton Township High School Class of 1961 and the University of Scranton Class of 2002. Employed by PPL for 41 years, he retired in 2005. Gerald was a member of the 4H Club Benton, the Boy Scouts of America as Asst. Scout Master Troop 68 (Peckville, PA), the Blakely Ambulance Company, and was also a 40 year member of the Wilson Fire Department. He was a member of the Jessup/Peckville Knights of Columbus, where he served as Assistant Grand Knight, Faithful Navigator, Trustee and Recorder. He served as a Eucharistic Minister for Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Peckville, PA.
Friends may call at the Margotta Funeral Home in Peckville, PA on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, from 4:00 – 8:00PM, with a funeral Mass on Thursday, August 24, 2017, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Peckville, PA at 9:30AM, internment at St. Cyril and Mathodius Cemetery, Peckville, PA.For online condolences go to, "www.margottafuneralhomes.com,"
