Obituary of John Altier
John R. “Jack” Altier, 81 of Archbald, went to be with the lord Thursday at Geisinger Community Medical Center. His loving wife of 33 years, Dianne Pulman Altier, was by his side. The couple resided in the Hills of Archbald. Born in Archbald, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Jimmie Altier.
After proudly serving his country in the Army, he came home and established himself in the community. Some of his many accomplishments include; The New World Lounge, The Gay 90’s, Avee’s Restaurant, Sierra Construction, and Sierra Estates. One of Jack’s most distinguished accomplishments is the Hills of Archbald. In addition to the aforementioned successful endeavors, Jack was a member of the advisory board of the Pioneer Bank, Past President of Archbald Borough Council, a member of Archbald Borough Planning Commission, and a member of the Elkview Country Club.
Jack was devoted to his family and friends. He looked forward to spending time with the guys whether it was Thursday night golf league or Saturday morning breakfast. He was not only a mentor to many but a father figure. He loved his family; especially his dog CeCe, sisters, brothers, children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Above all others, Dianne, who was the love of his life!
We would like to especially thank Dr. Richard Weinberger and his caring staff and all of those who were there by his side during this difficult time to make him smile and ensure that he knew how he was loved, needed and respected. This includes his loving sister Theresa Kissolovege, his sister in law Ann Marie Pulman, nephews and nieces Steven Mariani, Jeffrey & Jodee Mariani, Jason & Chrissy Yusavage, Billy, Theresa & Jillian Warholic, Frankie Altier and Aunt Betty Livsey. We would also like to thank those friends who were always there for him over the years including Paul Mazzoni, Peter & Suzie Verkitus, Chet Merli, Kevin & Denise Dorin, John Damski, Greg Pascale and Joe Grabin.
Also surviving are two daughters; Lori Altier, Scranton and Lisa Brzenski and husband Chet, Peckville; grandchildren: Bret, Brandon, and Brianna; two sisters, Theresa Kissolovege, Archbald and Mary Liparulo, Forest City; numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
