Obituary of John Weibel
John Robert Weibel, 68, of Dunmore, died at home after an illness. He is survived by his wife, of 33 years, the former Margaret McAllister.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Robert and Margaret Duggan Weibel.
A graduate of Scranton Central High School, class of 1966, he then earned a degree from Philadelphia Institute of Art and New York School of Visual Art. He was employed in the Admissions Department at Penn Foster.
John’s passions were his family and art. He also enjoyed going to the movies with his son Patrick, taking his wife to New York City to show her around. He was a smart man, a great reader who loved complex and graphic novels and had a good sense of humor.
Also surviving are a son Patrick and companion Virginia Weeks, Andreas, PA; two sisters, Mary Ann Dominick and husband Perry, Dickson City and Mary DeLourdes Micalizzi and husband Frank, Binghampton, a nephew John Sobieski, grand nephew John Brady Sobieski, several other nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers in law.
There will be a viewing held on Thursday from 6-8 pm at James M. Margotta Funeral Home, 1019 Main St. Peckville with a blessing service at 8pm at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
