LUDMILLA DRUTHER KUKUVKA
Ludmilla Helen (Druther) Kukuvka, 88, formerly of Mayfield, Pennsylvania, died Saturday, April 22 at Chatham Hills Subacute Care Center, Chatham, New Jersey following residency at Wynwood of Florham Park, Florham Park, New Jersey beginning in 2008. She lived in Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey for nearly 30 years before moving to Toms River, New Jersey in 1988. Born November 2, 1928 in Mayfield, Ludmilla was the third of six children and eldest daughter of the late Andrew P. and Helen E. Gellak Druther; she was a communicant of the former Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and educated in the former Mayfield Public Schools, now part of the Lakeland School District. At retirement, she was an associate at Good Friend Electric and with the Zev and Fran Rosen Family, the company’s owners, both in Toms River. An avid walker, gardener and craftsperson who enjoyed crocheting and knitting, Ludmilla was a regular volunteer with catholic social services as a communicant of St. Barnabas Catholic Church, Bayville, New Jersey. Ludmilla is survived by three children: Mark A. Kufka, Falls Church, Virginia, David R. Kukuvka and wife, Kerry, Pompton Plains, New Jersey and Barbara Ann K. Herda, and husband, Michael, Dover, New Jersey; seven grandchildren, two nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Norman, Joseph and Francis and sisters Barbara B. Druther and Andrea Druther Naumovitz. The funeral will be Saturday, April 29 from the Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home, 511 Church Street, Jessup, Pennsylvania with 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Queen of Angels Parish at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Jessup, the church where her maternal grandparents were amongst the founding Slovak families. Interment will be with her parents and sisters at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery at Finch Hill, Carbondale, Pennsylvania. Friends and family may call from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday,at the Louis M. Margotta Funeral Homes, 511 Church St. Jessup, before proceeding to Mass. The family requests and would appreciate memorial contributions to Alzheimer’s Association, Arthritis Foundation or Sisters of Saints Cyril and Methodius, Danville, Pennsylvania.
